Serpentine is my favorite spot for brunch in the city for several reasons: the food is delicious, the space is inspiring, the location is on the perimeter of the city so not too many people know about it, and I think most importantly when it comes to brunch spots, they take reservations.
Jesse and I had been to Serpentine a few years ago (gosh, was it really that long ago?!) with our best friends, Jen and Sean (read my post about Jen here). The food is really, really good. But that's to be expected since it's owned by the same people who own Slow Club, one of my favorite spots in the city. They have the BEST burger!
With such busy schedules, Sundays have become the days when Jesse and I see his parents. They live in the East Bay and took BART into the city to see our new apartment and have brunch. It was really fun to show them our place and catch up over brunch.
Jesse had the Huevos Rancheros, I had the Egg Sandwich, Jesse's mom had the Fritatta, and Jesse's dad had the Polenta. Everything was absolutely delicious, flavorful and filling, without being too much. Oh, and how could I forget the Buckwheat Pancake that we all split! The only thing that I was a little disappointed in was the side of bacon I ordered and the orange juice. Both were decent- not that great. Overall it was a lovely brunch with perfect people and I feel so lucky that my in-laws are so close and we can see them often.
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
