PERFECT PROM.

be silent. be still. be silent. be still.

I always thought that my Senior Prom would be a lot like the teen classic, "She's All That" where everyone busts out into a choreographed dance to "Funk Soul Brother." The only funk that night was me! I had just flown back from visiting a college in San Diego that morning. When I got home, I found out that my brother had tried to reset the water filter on the refrigerator. There were some complications and he and my dad had to turn the water off and I couldn't shower.

Needless to say it all worked out. I mean, since I went to an all girls school, you pretty much asked a boy you had sort of stayed in touch with from 8th grade, or you called upon your friend's cousin who was willing to drive from 50 minutes away to do you a big favor.

Last year the style for high school proms was short dresses and very, very tall platform shoes. This year, the style is long dresses. I have been urging girls to wear lower, comfortable shoes so that they don't have to take their shoes off from the pain. If you're shopping anywhere besides the Nordstrom shoe department picking between Nina's and b.p. while practically in tears with your mother, you are doing it wrong-- that's all part of the experience!
