When I look at my closet I see lots of black, cream, and black and cream. The most colorful pieces I have are my favorite coats from J.Crew (like this one). My uniform is pretty much maternity Pixie Pants, a while collared shirt, flats, and a colorful coat. When I saw this green coat on the J.Crew website, I instantly fell in love but wasn't sure how it would look on. I thought I'd give it a whirl at Fashion Week- well, that was a GREAT idea! I was walking through the Mercedes Benz tents in a sea of black. People were screaming at me, "GREEN COAT! GREEN COAT!".
I think it's everyone at fashion week's dream to have their photo taken by the mass of photographers when they walk out of the show-- mine was to just not trip on the slick stone!! I wish I would have taken a picture of all of the photographers out there because it was insane. I think it was the luck of this (what my brother Danny calls Kermit the Fog) green coat, but I got my photo snapped and interviewed by Maybelline! #maybeshesbornwithit
I had an absolute blast in New York, but I have never been so happy to be home as I was when we returned (did I mention that I couldn't find our house keys anywhere when we were leaving the airport?! We ended up going to my parents' house to spend the night but after riffling through my suitcase, I found the keys in my coat pocket!!!). While we thought it might be a fun babymoon trip, we both agreed that we wanted to take another more relaxing trip in the next couple of weeks to relax.
As soon as someone says trip I start thinking about the essential pieces needed for travel. I had a blast previewing all of the fall fashions at fashion week, but I'm not ready to skip over spring and summer quite yet. This coat inspired me to incorporate more bold colors and prints into my wardrobe. I've been loving all of the printed pieces from J.McLaughlin and the fun pieces from Kenzo like this blouse and this dress. Now....where to go for our real babymoon?! Please send suggestions our way!!
