Happy Monday! I hope everyone has a great week! Last week seemed so long to me for some reason, maybe because so much happened or maybe because I was recovering from our travels. I know i say this every week, but I can't believe I am 26 weeks! Only 99 more days to go and that's assuming that baby girl arrives on her due date.
I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to my friend Megan and her husband Jeff on the arrival of their baby girl Charlotte! The last time I saw Megan was when we met at Palmer's and I asked her a million questions (you can read about it here). She had a great delivery at the new UCSF Hospital (where we will be delivering) and said it was amazing and she would share some tips the next time we get together.
I had an absolutely lovely weekend with friends and family. Jesse and I always talk about how mind boggling it is that we are having a baby! We are over the moon excited but can't believe that it's happening. We've made an effort to see friends, explore the city, and spend more quality time together. We had a fun time hosting friends over for dinner on Friday night with a private chef from Kitchit Tonight (I'll share all about it this week), babysitting my nieces, and spending time with Jesse's parents in East Bay and I stopped by Boobie Palooza (read my post on Finding Your Own Maternity Style here). The weekend was jam packed and I'm looking forward to getting out of the city the next couple of weekends!
I've still been feeling really great and don't really feel pregnant. Last week I got a little nervous because I didn't feel as many kicks on Monday and Tuesday and was worried that our baby was frozen from New York. While I have had a few hours without kicks in the past, something felt a little different and I was worried. I called my mom and my sister and they said periods of rest are common and to drink a little juice and lay down and wait for the kicks. I took their advice but decided I would call the doctor on Wednesday morning if things didn't change. Kicks came back and this week she has been so active! I think she might have just been tired. I am just grateful that things are back to normal!!
I know this might be hard to believe, but I still don't feel pregnant. I don't have any discomforts or feel limited by my growing stomach. Since I feel great, it's super weird when people ask how far along I am. For the longest time no one could tell I was pregnant and so I thought it was my little secret. Now it's odd that the secrets out! I've been living in my Pixie Maternity Pants and J.Brand maternity white jeans and I think this past weekend were the last few days of wearing non-maternity tops- they're all a little too short (and I'm not about to start sporting a crop top!).
Also if you see me and want to touch my stomach, go for it! I mentioned it last week, but I wanted to add that you should put your hands on my left side- that's where I think the baby mostly hangs out. I was reading on the Bump app that her eyes are forming (I wonder what color they will be!), her eyelashes are grown, and her brain is developing!! So unbelievable!
Baby is the size of: A head of lettuce! It's hard for me to believe that something that big is inside of me!
Weight Gain: 12.5 lbs (still lighter than I was freshman year...haha!!) I've noticed that I'm carrying more water weight in my stomach. It feels squishier.
Trouble Sleeping: Nope. I am still sleeping comfortably and regularly. I also read that to avoid having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night it's best to taper liquid intake closer to night. This technique has been working. I also think I'm sleeping well because of my Snoogle!
Swelling: Not that I can tell. Shoes still fit (thankfully!!!!) and my wedding rings still feel comfortable.
Headaches: I am not going to comment on this because I don't want to jinx it! I'll just say I've been feeling good.
Pregnancy Brain (forgetfulness): I have noticed a few times that I've stopped and had to ask myself "what am I supposed to be doing?" I just have a one-track brain and can only handle one task at a time (which is very difficult for my multi-tasking personality).
Braxton Hicks contractions: Still don't think I've felt these. I should be able to tell, right?
Slightly higher blood pressure: Not sure. I'll let you know after our March appointment.
Funny things: Yesterday at Stow Lake I was in the bathroom and a woman walked in on me (and when I say woman, I mean 18 year old girl). It was probably weirder for her because I was squatting and then smiled when she opened the door (why was I smiling?!? I'm not quite sure). Then Jesse and I did a lap around the lake and I wanted to buy some water and the cashier was the woman who walked in on me! I obviously said, "hi, me again!". Then we did another lap and I went to the bathroom and she walked out of the stall. She probably thought I was stalking her! Then.... when I was at the Boobie Palooza conference I opened the stall door on someone!!! What was with my luck? She came out and then said to me, "Thanks for wincing and smiling at me. I'm a doola so nothing bothers me, but I appreciate your kindness."
Oh, one other funny story- the other day I was getting a pre-natal massage and about half way through I asked the masseuse what type of oil she was using because it felt great. She told me it was olive oil and suddenly my senses kicked in to overdrive! All I could smell was OLIVE OIL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gagged a little- I think it's because I've been cooking more and it sort of grossed me out. I called Jesse afterward and tried to get him to agree with me that they should disclose that they are using OLIVE OIL-- what if someone has an allergy! Or in my case, an aversion to having it rubbed all over your body!
To-do List: My uniform is pretty much white collared shirts and pixie pants. I've officially grown out of all of my blouses (including my favorite Kate Spade blouse with the scalloped collar). My goal this week is to find a few comfortable white blouses that I can wear for the next couple of months. I want to head to Pea in the Pod in Marin to check out what they have! I like these three and can't wait to try them on.
