PERFECT PICK: LILLIAN.

Happy Monday!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! It was absolutely gorgeous in the Bay Area this weekend, which is funny because all of the news outlets are preparing us for the Big El Nino storm that we should expect this winter. Anyone else already trying to book vacations to warmer weather this winter??

I have a confession to make. I LIED TO ALL OF YOU!!

Jesse and I knew we were going to name our daughter Lillian from the very beginning! And honestly, I felt SO guilty every time someone would ask us if we had a name and I would lie and say no. So, to everyone I lied to, I AM SORRY!!! SO SORRY!!! Please forgive me!

When we first found out that we were pregnant, Jesse and I came up with two names that we liked: Lillian and Spencer. There was no going through baby name websites, researching names from literature, or discussion of family names-- they just came to us and we both agreed on them.

A few weeks later when we found out we were having a girl we decided on LILLIAN!! It was fun to have it be our little secret and we loved calling our growing baby by name-- it made it feel so much more real. There were a few times when I thought about sticking with the unofficial family tradition of C names but at that point we couldn't-- we already had our Lillian!! Some of the C names I like are Colette (hence why I threw around the idea of calling her Coco), Carson, and two of my favorite former students' name- Cameron.

You know when you start looking for something you see it everywhere! I think it's the red car theory or something like that. Well, as soon as we committed to Lillian, a name we thought wasn't that common, I felt like I was hearing it every where! I had a split second moment of doubt where I thought maybe we should go with something else. Luckily we stayed with Lillian and I cannot imagine her with a different name.

She does have a lot of nick names: Lil' Lil, Little Miss Lillian, Little One, Coco, and Tunie. But it's funny- she's not a Lily. When people ask how Lily is doing I have no idea who they are talking about!!!! They probably think I am a terrible mother. But for over nine months we've been calling her Lillian-- It's so strong and elegant and fits her perfectly!

I hope everyone has a great week!
